The Donovan McNabb Saga Continues

Posted: July 25, 2013 in Sports

Wow, it’s been a month since the last time I’ve written anything. I guess it’s because Philly sports have me so down that I didn’t know what to write about. I guess I could be bitching about how much the Phillies suck or the fact that the Sixers still don’t have a head coach but eh, what’s the point.
So, I got the idea for this post after I logged onto Twitter and the first thing I see is WIP Morning Show’s Audio Roadshow question of the day. How do you feel about Donovan McNabb? Here we go again. I already knew I was not listening to Angelo this morning or for that any other morning anymore. When I saw the poll results were 84% of the fans don’t like Donovan, all I could do is shake my head. 84% of you don’t like the best quarterback this team has ever had? Actually, I think it’s more like 84% of the idiots that listen to Angelo who don’t like Donovan. Yes I called you idiots!
I’m so sick of hearing that Donovan couldn’t win the big game; Donovan threw up in the huddle during the Superbowl; Donovan can’t let go of being booed on draft day; all Donovan does is whines about Philly. Blah, blah, blah. Shut the hell up! I get it, you hate Donovan. You hate the player who had a 92-49-1 record with the Eagles; holds the team record for pass completions at 2,801; over 32,000 passing yards and 216 touchdowns. We all know Donovan didn’t win the Superbowl, hell no Eagles quarterback in the history of the Superbowl won one but the failure of this whole franchise falls directly on Five’s shoulders. Does anyone remember how the Eagles were down big against the Cardinals in the NFCCG and Donovan brought them back? Did anyone give him credit for that comeback? I’m going to go out on a limb and say probably not but I’m pretty sure you put the blame on him when they lost even though it was the beloved Brian Dawkins and his defense that shit the bed at the end of that game. Does anyone remember the game against the Cardinals when Donovan broke his ankle, went into the locker room, got it taped up and came back to finish the game? Probably not. What you want to remember about him is the bad times he had in Philadelphia which in my opinion were far more less than the good times. He gave us the most exciting 10 years of Eagles football in recent memory but no one wants to acknowledge that.
What really makes me laugh is, I remember when fans used to bitch and complain because Donovan wouldn’t talk. Now that he’s talking, you’re bitching and complaining again. Can’t have it both ways Eagles fans. I’m just going to say this before I go. On Sept. 19th, Donovan will be retiring as an Eagle. There will be a big ceremony for him during the Eagles/Chiefs game. I have an idea, how about if you fans don’t give the national media another reason to bad mouth Philly fans. How about if for once you do the right thing and give the best quarterback this team has ever had a standing ovation and not be a bunch of assholes. Just something to think about.
